Hello and welcome to MJR Events and The Norfolk Bump & Beyond Baby and Toddler Fair.
Who are MJR Events and The Norfolk Bump & Beyond Baby and Toddler Fair?
MJR Events is quite simply our initials – we are Mark & Meryl Raines. We are a small business based in the lovely town of Harleston in South Norfolk. Mark is a Photographer and he found it increasingly difficult to become an exhibitor at wedding fairs across Norfolk. In August 2014, he came home one day and said “I’ve hired The Forum in Norwich and we are going to run a wedding fair”. At this time, Mark was still in full time employment as an Events Manager. Thus MJR Events was born.
Bump & Beyond
We also run The Norfolk Bump & Beyond Baby and Toddler Fair. This evolved following the birth of our daughter Niamh. During pregnancy, we felt completely overwhelmed. We spent what seems like months trying to read reviews and decide what travel system to buy. Whether to purchase a moses basket or go straight to using a cot. Not to mention creams and lotions and what brand of nappies to buy! It was a complete minefield! We didn’t know about all the services that were available to us. We didn’t know about all of the fantastic local companies around East Anglia who offer everything from pregnancy to preschool. From a parents perspective, it felt that as soon as we had become confident with one phase, it was all change and onto the next hurdle.
As a result, we decided that there was a gap in the market for a new baby and toddler fair in Norwich. We had two years at St Andrews Hall in the city centre of Norwich before taking the plunge and moving to The Norfolk Showground Arena in April 2017. We wanted to give parents the opportunity to see everything that was on offer. To help them make their journey into parenthood that little bit easier. All of this whilst supporting and raising money for a dedicated charity along the way.
Our first year, we supported The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at The Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital. Luckily when Niamh was born, we only had a couple of visits to NICU, as she was jaundiced. It was at this point that it really hit home about the amazing work that they do and how some babies have to spend a lot longer in their care. Since then, we have raised money for Nelsons Journey and East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice NOOK Appeal. We are currently working hard on The Norfolk Bump & Beyond Baby and Toddler Fair 2018 on Sunday 25th March. This year we will be supporting and raising awareness for The Benjamin Foundation.
What’s on the horizon?
Over the next coming months, we will be discussing how to get the most out of exhibiting at a fair (wedding or baby). We will be looking at tips and must do’s for your big day, not to mention, guest blogs from our Premier Sponsor Mumii Magazine for The Norfolk Bump & Beyond Baby and Toddler Fair and some of our fantastic exhibitors!
